Betel Juice! Betel Juice! Betel Juice!

Malaysia Kitchen for the World Comes to Los Angeles with a Special Evening of Malaysian Foodon Santa Monica’s Third Street Promenade , Friday, December 10

Checking in via FourSquare at Eat| Drink| Explore Malaysia Kitchen

The basic gist of Friday night is the Malaysian Trade Development Corp. is having a huge campaign to promote Malaysian cuisine and restaurants in the US.  Los Angeles just happens to be a part of this interesting sampling event of Malaysian Street food including a Malaysian Night Market. By the looks of the New York event it looks amazing. There’s going to be free samplings of classic street food from local places around LA. It is on Friday , Dec. 10 from 5:30  to 8:30. All foods can be sampled free of charge. I really hoping I can find some Betel Leaves for chewing.  More info here

The NYC event pictures are making me very interested in going
Yum! Malaysian food!

PAULETTE’S New Spot

IMG_7471

If don’t know by now there’s a new place in town taking up space in the cupcakes trend. It’s definitely not a cupcake, but defiantly claiming itself to be just a good , if not better. The parisian macaron. Not the Macaroon as most people think, but a macaron. Reinventing the flavors are places like Bottega Louie and most recently the store Paulette. They have a location in Beverly Hills , one in San Fransisco and most recently, the one I went to visit in Little Tokyo. So new in fact that it doesn’t even pop up on their website. The flavors range from everyday to the extraordinary like Violet Cassis, which is my favorite. The new store is located at the Little Tokyo Galleria on the first floor. Call if you think I’m making this up 213-621-4457. More info @ http://www.paulettemacarons.com/

For a limited time only.

I can’t believe I almost forgot to post this.  The Guy Hepner Gallery is Hosting Jason Alpher. The man has got talent.  He’s the artist who  did the awesome stand out outfits. Stoutfits basically. His very humorous fashionista experience in design comes out in classic bourgeoisie art. The show name may be a little long, but it explains everything. Visit the Guy Hepner Gallery for the Jason Alper installation entitled Proletarian Drift and the Enfranchisement of the Bourgeoisie in the 21st Century. I’m sure everyone Asian girl rockin a LV will enjoy the show. Maybe if they think they’re classy to show off a Louie V, they’ll actually pretend to be cultured for a day and look at some art.

Featuring 20 artists commissioned to do amazing sculpture based on light and glowing as their motif. With the atmosphere and the lights, not to mention a pretty much amazing full moon tonight, you should highly consider making this your night. Best advice

Get there early, make reservations, map out the beach, bring a camera, and best option, bring a bike. No need for a lock either. There’s plenty of free bike valet all over the beach tonight. More info @

Saturdays Off the 405 recap

If there is anything better than a free concert. It might as well be the nicest venue to have one. Aloe Blacc played and conquered. Bring a nice date. If the atmosphere doesn’t do it for you. The scenery will.

Maybe next time………

I shouldn’t have to tell you

But by now you should know about the Saturdays of the 405. Aloe Blacc is playing this Saturday, September 11th at the Getty Center from 6-9 pm. Released under Stones Throw records , this man has got the bee’s knees. Take my advice and have a picnic and get there early. If not and you decide to just wing it and get there late. There is a good chance you will be stuck waiting in line for hours trying to get in even though the concert will be over by the time you get there. You might recognize his song from the intro in How to Make it America, which by the way is awesome too.

Seein* Stars August 14th

PUBLIC STAR PARTY

So I’ve never heard about this one but once a month the Griffith Observatory holds something called a public star party, which as corny as it sounds, is actually pretty cool. Held monthly , the Los Angeles Astronomical Society gives a chance for the public to view the Sun, moon , planets and other celestial objects on a day where they will be clearly visible. This month it happens to be on August 14th from 2:00 pm to 9:45 pm. The astronomers will show you not only where to look , how to use the scope to look for your self. I think it would be nice to just nerd out once in awhile. Don’t you? Bring a picnic while your at it
